The Expos will return to San Juan for 22 games in 2004: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1684013
All will be before the All-Star Break.

MLB is treating the Expo's like a red-headed step-child.
I think this is better for the Expos than spreading those games out over the entire season.
Small solace though.

Better tuck a couple of bottles of Pepto Bismol in that stepchild's ruck sack as he pingpongs between Canadian & Puerto Rican cuisine.

This is much more logical than the plan they had last year with Los Expos. Having them get all of their San Juan games out of the way early is essentially like a team starting the season in an old ballpark while the new one is being finished.
Of course, there's no Vazquez and there's no Guerrero, so there isn't a point going there anymore if the main latino influence is gone. Just move them there if you want to play there, dammit.
BTW, you still owe us Bud. STILL. When you're done sucking...up to Steinbrenner, would you at least help give Montreal some good players? Throw us a frickin' bone here...

What... exactly... is MLB attempting to accomplish with their handling of the Expos?

That's a damned good question. Has Bud ever answered that simple question? Is there a plan in effect? Anything?

Its yet another thing that Bud has severely _______ up. In bud's magical little world, every team would make loads of cash every year, fans would flock to the stadiums while paying $100 minimum for a ticket, no player would earn more than $20,000, the Expos would be sold to a consortium for about $750 million, and they would move somewhere that would not interfere with any other team's territorial rights and the local town of Podunk, Nowhere would build a $1 trillion dollar stadium for the team free of charge. Furthermore, in Buds magical world, he would be the great guy who saved baseball from the evil players, and all baseball's problems would be solved by paying a price above market value to Bud's buddy Carl for disolving his team while killing another viable franchise at the same time. And of course, every team, no matter how badly run would make the world series every year.
Bud lives in a place that most of us can't reach without copious quantities of hallucinogenic drugs.
Sorry, Just felt like getting that off my chest. I think Bud figured he'd just contract the Expos along with the Twins and the problem would *poof* go away (barring someone offering an insane amount of money for the Expos). Now, it seems to me that the Expos are in a holding pattern, slowly being forced to deteriorate, so that no one will complain when the CBA runs out and Bud finally contracts the Expos (the players agreed not to challenge contraction once the CBA runs out). Its likely the Twins will still join them as well, unless the Marlins don't get the stadium to fly. So watch out for Carl to start claiming insane losses.

Real brilliant taking the one series that would probably draw well, the games against TORONTO, and moving it to San Juan. Sheer genius having the "battle of Canada" take place in Puerto Rico.
