White Sox brought in Triple-A hitting coach Gary Ward to work with Frank Thomas last week.

Thomas this April: .221, 4 HR, 10 RBI, .316 OBP.
Thomas last April: .363, 5 HR, 21 RBI, .446 OBP.

Is it just me, or, is it "unique" that (for someone who's a 'great' hitter) Frank Thomas really seems to be high maintenance.

Net, not all of us can be :homer: , sigh, even though sometimes I wish we were. High maintenance is a true PITA.
If he needs "assistance", then let them waste their money (uhh, I suppose they refer to it as an investment?). Just looks like ego-stroking to me...some people need that, too.

Just seems strange to me - - you never see Edgar Martinez requiring a tune-up - - nor did you ever hear of Stan Musial needing one. Or, at least, if they did, they took care of it themselves, quietly.

You are being overly critical, Net.

How? Isn't voicing amazement different than being critical? I'm not saying it's a bad thing that Thomas needs so much coaching - - I'm just saying that it surprises me - given all his achievements in the past.

Fair enough. I didn't get that feel from the original post.

Thanks - - you spared me launching into a "I'm rubber, you're glue" campaign. :D
