I am a legendary HoFer. Late in my career another future HoFer joined my team. Many years later my teammate's son would be drafted in the first round by the team of the opposing player with which I am most closely identified.

Who am I and who are the father and son.

Come on you country boys. Not only is it where you can cross the river but it is how you cross the river.

A wild guess, Whitey Ford & Yogi and Dale Berra?

Whitey is part of it, but I don't think he is legendary nor does he have an opponent to whom he is uniquely tied. The Berras are not involved.

Joe DiMaggio and Whitey and Eddie Ford (who got drafted in 1974 by the Red Sox - the team with which Ted Williams, who was most identified with Joe D, played)

Excellent, YL.

The title reference refers to a ford. A ford is a shallow spot in a river where people and animals can cross the river.
