Who would you vote for?

This is cool...

My ballot is gonna look a little something like this:

1. Al Michaels

2. Jon Miller

3. Dave Niehaus

Michaels and Miller I'm picking because they've been instrumental in the national coverage of baseball (I could word that a LOT better)...and Niehaus, despite the things I say to denounce his coverage lately, for pretty much BEING Seattle baseball.

I don't actually like Jon Miller (and I hate how he pronounces Latino names), but he's in one of those Broadcaster's Halls of Fame and I really honestly believe he deserves a Frick award.

Nice find, Wolf!!!

Fan voting is going to make it harder for a local to get nominated. Most of us know the national guys but only a local knows the local guy (with some exception, of course). Didn't make sense to me that people already in the HoF are eligible. I don't know that it makes a lot of sense to elect dead guys either. Also, any rules that prohibit Bob Costas from being nominated need revising.

I selected:

1) Steve Busby
2) Denny Mathews
3) Al Michaels

Okay, the first two are "homer" votes.

I voted for all the Seattle guys (Niehaus, Fairly, Rizzs), but I really do hope Niehaus gets the award, for the very same reason LGO stated. His call of the final play of game five of the 1995 ALDS will never leave my memory.

That is cool....

I voted for...

Al Michaels
Denny Matthews
Jon Miller

Unfortunately, a lot of the people on the list I haven't had a chance to listen to, so I can't really judge them.

The fans have spoken and I like what I hear. :)

Note to baseball...make damn sure one of these 3 gets in...award 2 Fricks if you have to. Also, make sure that Niehaus gets in over all the others. ;) Kidding, kidding...

One more thing...I know there's a few Bay Areans here...can any of y'all give me a synopsis of Lon Simmons for me? The article was the first time I'd seen his name period...and I've found there's a big campaign for him getting a Frick...but I know not a damn thing about him.

Simmons worked for both the A's and the Giants over the course of his career. He was best know for a very wry sense of humor. I only heard him toward the end of his career, but I found him to be great play by play guy.
