Paris Hilton on video. Jessica Lynch in still photos. Hasn't anyone learned from all the others before? If you pose nude for the camera, one day, it will turn up somewhere, someday. Why would anyone take the chance? Ego? Boredom? Risk seeking? All three?

The cumulative long-term cultural memory of an early twenty-something is about "five minutes ago." ;)

(Or, to put it another way, the lessons of say, Rob Lowe or even Pamela Anderson don't have much impact since all these things happened when the aforementioned were about eight years old.)

If anyone was shocked to see Paris Hilton turn up having sex on a videotape, they must have been living under a rock for the past 2 years. Miss Hilton is not known for her chastity or shyness, and it was only a matter of time before something like this turned up. I think she suffers from the double-standard where women who maintain a casual attitude towards sex are frowned upon much more than men with the same attitude.

Jessica Lynch is a more troubling situation. I'm not judging her for whatever she may have done, but it looks bad when placed against the media image of her that has been created. She may suffer an undeserved backlash, but I think her fame will wear off soon enough, anyway. She's gone through enough that she probably deserves now to bell left well-enough alone.

I had no idea who Paris Hilton was until about four months ago. Ignorance was bliss, I tell you...

There is every reason to doubt that those photos are actually of Lynch. Reportedly even the Globe is skeptical.

I listen to about 6 radio stations in the AM. Today, with the rain, it took me 2 hours to get in. For two hours, on just about every station, all they were talking about was Hilton and Lynch in the nude.

I guess it could have gone in entertainment, but I think it's definitely in the news. The Jessica Lynch story is all I heard about on my way to work today, on everything from Howard Stern to our biggest local news station.

And anything Paris Hilton does is always news in the Entertainment world.

I must say I am surprised that Flynt decided not to print the Lynch photos (unless he has reason to believe them to be fakes.)

Don't feel bad......I had no clue, either. My first guess would have been that "Paris Hilton" was a hotel in France.

Now, while I believe her when she says that she never meant for everyone to see it, she should have known better. If you're an attractive, well-known young famous woman, it's a pretty good guess than any sex tapes you may make - regardless of your intentions - are going to end up in the public domain.

I don't care what couples do in the privacy of their own bedrooms, but she should have guessed this might happen.

I agree Craig. Obviously she didn't want people to see this tape. But it happens and she should have been ready for it.

I disagree Craig and JamesI. She shouldn't necessarily be surprised that it happened, but you shouldn't have to be 'ready' for you private life to go public ... even if your entire claim to fame/notoriety comes from having your private 'spoiled little rich girl with no other purpose in life' life be a public thing. It's still not right.

Paris Hilton is the way too rich Hilton heir (well, one of them) who seems to be making a life of being the spoiled little rich bimbo. Think Onassis v2.0, among others.

Jessica Lynch is the POW/war hero/... from the Iraq invasion.

Paris is pretty much a moron from what I understand. Doesn't really understand anything outside of her little world. The idea that someone would put her nude video on the internet probably never entered her vacant wasteland.

Umm, her sister is Nikki. Is that close enough? ;)

You're probably right - she's farmous because she's good-looking, rich and a party girl. What a tough life that must be!

I watched the simple life tonight. She has no concept of anything outside her little world. She seems about as dumb as jessica simpson, but in a different (IQ above 10 but far from genius) way.

i still have no clue who the other woman is. but how come everyone who is a pow instantly becomes a hero?

They only become hero's if they are pretty girls and some positive PR is needed.

The guy who was the real hero in all the events is quite anonymous. I read about him somewhere and he was a real hero. Unfortunately, I can't remember the dude's name and where I read about him :(.
