My STATS Inc. Major League and Minor League Handbooks arrived today via UPS.
I've been getting the Majors since 1991 and the Minors since 1993 - and it's always a fun day when they arrive.
Each looked a little slicker this year, cover-wise, which I figured was the residue of FOX Sports buying STATS - - probably felt like they needed to do something new.
What I was really excited about was the fact that they appeared a little thicker than in the past. Expecting to be really pleased by finding some new - - I was quickly disappointed.
The books are now bilingual - - all text appears in both English and Spanish - - that's why they are thicker. What a jip!

Skip,
I have too many rants about STATS here to list. I was a long time player of Bill James Classic Baseball which STATS ran. Well they mis-ran it. At any rate, ever since they were purchased by Fox they really seem to do some stupid things. I really, really loved to play BJCB but STATS incompetence drove me away.

Sorr to hear that TG - - - if Fox runs them into the ground, it will be a loss. Where else will we get our stats?

What type of stats did you get from there? Was this from historical players like Cobb or Ruth, or was this for more current players?
As to Fox, I don't believe a network should own any sports entity, other than their website. It put a human spin onto one baseball team in the Bronx when CBS sold it to Steinbrenner, though his earlier years weren't quite so "homey".

If you want to play one of the best fantasy games go to www.STATS.com and click on Bill James Classic Baseball. But beware..you will get hooked and the customer service and the control of the game itself leaves alot to be desired. Plus it costs about $170 to play one 14 week season.

I'm sure they pitch it as "less than $2 per day!"

Skip, TG19, I appreciate the links. Just more good stuff to do in the off-season.
I'll settle into those once the draft is done, since I've got the 10th & 11th round to worry about (as well as shutting my window tight so no one steals my picks).

I used to work at STATS as a summer job in college. I worked the Bill James Fantasy League telephones. The Classic Baseball game was just getting started when I left. What a horrible job. Non-stop calls from psychos complaining about this and that. I worked from like 4-midnight.
Try to explain how someone typed in Dave Clark instead of Will Clark on his draft sheet!
