This tells me that some of you people are slacking.....

I know for a fact that some just do not feel comfortable starting a thread - for whatever reason. Nothing wrong with that. Some like to start convos. Others like to wait to react to someone else. Different strokes.

Isn't that part of the moderators jobs? I start the occasional thread when the mood strikes me. Those that do start threads do a pretty good job of it. Otherwise, I wouldn't be readin this thing all the time.

Actually, it's not the moderator's job to start threats. It's their job to make sure that the forum rules and community standards are being practiced by all - and to help with questions, etc.

They are not required to be official thread starters.

I feel it's part of my responsibility to start threads, especially since I frequently troll the 'net for news and come across little tidbits. But, like Wolf says, some feel comfortable and some don't. Others would rather jump into a discussion than start one. I think it might be part of my teacher training that makes me comfortable framing questions for discussion, and less likely to fret if they don't stir a reaction. There's always the next question.

Sorry, but I've been one of the slackers. No imagination, I guess. I do start a lot of threads at another forum but that is (generally) outside the realm of baseball.

What's the record for most threads started with no replies?

What's the record for most threads started with no replies?

What about a discusion creation average (zero reply threads)/(total threads created)

or more advanced meterics like:
TARP-threads above replacement poster
RNPC-reply neutral post count

I'll start a thread when I have a question to ask. And I will usually respond to topics that interest me which I only see covered here (mainly in the History and Library forums.)

I'm not as much a good neighbor as perhaps I should be, listening to all the conversations and responding accordingly. But to do everything I'd want to on the web, I'd pretty much have to forego doing anything else :).

I dunno. It took me a while to get the cool Lefty Grove avatar :). I wish that I could have a custom avatar like some of you guys that have been here for a while. Besides, I don't think that you can use a space in your user name here. It took me a while to realize that pathogan stood for Pat Hogan and wasn't pronounced path-o-gan :).

BTW, for the rest of you folks here I am Jon Daly. I ditched the Gary Geiger Counter alias at another forum recently.

Well. I guess I have to start hanging out here more often, then! Sorry guys, you'll have to get the full Jon Daly experience from now on.

SPITBALL-12you did something wrong. sweaver has 500+. craig s has 459. i have 458. jamesi does only have 21.

hmmm...maybe it's because you don't have access to threads in the mod forum

TreAnt985

I'd always though the moderators' forum was just a legend! :D
That must be the problem--for example, here's what I got for Craig S.'s thread starts:

Showing results 1 to 25 of 434
Search took 2.41 seconds.

I don't think he started 25 threads between when I wrote this down and when you did... ;)

Mod forum can not account for nearly 1/2 of my posts. Something is wrong. Do the SOC threads count? That would make more sense.

Sorry, I did a 1500 post cutoff for these, so I wouldn't spend forever making and sorting the list. Anyone who has less than 1500 career posts won't be on my list...
