Appier will be signed by:

1. Cardinals
2. Braves
3. Expos, after they trade Livan

Listed in order of likelihood. He will be somewhere, by the end of the week. I can't believe the Angels couldn't get a Grade C prospect from the Cardinals, if they picked up the tab. Now they get to pay his salary AND watch him pitch elsewhere. And get nothing in return.

The YES network guys said that, when Mikie S came to take him out on Tuesday, he would not hand Mike the ball on the mound, that Mike had to pry it from his hand. Later, supposedly, in the dugout, Appier was spewing more at Mike ('tho like would not get into it - he only listened).

If this is part of it, it's impressive that Mike has enough clout to get the club to eat 12 million next year.

The Angels had to pay him whether they use him or not. Sunk money.

Appier has reached that point in his career where he is nothing but a bullpen killer. He can barely go 5 innings and he can't do that without giving up at least three runs and chewing 2-and-a-half hours.

Just don't let KC pick him up.
