Sounds like he's realizing that winning might be worth more than having the huge salary. I think it's almost laughable, though, when he talks about doing what's right for Mr. Hicks and the team. If that was how he felt, he should have talked about restructuring his contract in a way that would have freed up money to spend on the Rangers, and made it clear that he's committed to winning in Texas and not elsewhere.
He's a great player, but I think not winning a championship really has an effect on how players are perceived. I'm sure ARod knows this, too, and I'd bet that the chance to win is why he wants out.

Thank you, Dr. Hank McCoy.
Yeah, it was an interesting quote. Is this the frustration talking? And who would be willing to take on the contract?

I wouldn't be surprised to see him in Dodger blue. The Glazer family is not afraid to spend money,

It ain't easy being blue............
And who would be willing to take on the contract?
Maybe the Mets now that Wilpon has the team from Doubleday?

Rangers general manager John Hart said he was surprised by Rodriguez's comments but hadn't had time to speak to the star about them.
Funny that A-Rod would start this... um... conversation in the press and not with Hicks or Hart.
It would seem like if it were genuine (or, better said, if he had the best interst of the Rangers in mind) he would have told Hicks/Hart privately.

Given the Mets' recent track-record, his line for his first season in NY would look something like this:
G: 124
Ave: .268
HR: 12
RBI: 72

ARod has got 7 more seasons to go at $25M per year. He might just think about shutting to hell up. Nobody put a gun to Hicks head to offer such a ridiculous contract. Nobody put a gun to ARod's head to sign it.
ARod wants to be the highest player in the game and but doesn't want to live with the consequences .
The Yanks are the only team that can pick him. With Mondesi gone, Clemens retiring, Wells getting old, Ventura being unproductive Big George might be able to free the cash to afford ARod. But if I'm Texas when George Come's a'courtin' I'd make it clear it that unloading ARod is not a salary dump. The Yanks will have to offer something in the way of useable humans.

But that will only work if the Yankees (or any team) want ARod more than Hicks wants to move the salary. If that's not the case then there's no need to offer good players.
