Poor Apr and May then playoffs?

There have been a couple of articles about teams that were X-number of games out of first at the end of May and then making the playoffs.

How many teams since we went to the wild-card system have been below .500 on May 31st and made the playoffs?

I'm wondering about the odds of Ana. and AZ making the playoffs.

I don't think anyone has ever come back from 15 games out or more and made the postseason, in divisional play. Now, with the Wild Card, that may have changed.

Weren't the A's 15 games out in 2001? Of course, now that I think of it, they were probably never 15 games out of the wild card.
