Who is Luis Gonzalez anyway? 13 dingers in April, with 4 days left to go. Is it possible that Luis Gonzalez could break the HR record?

For April? Sure.
For guys named "Gonzalez"? Possible.
For former Astros? Could be.
For NL LH hitters, season? Perhaps.
For all hitters, season? Hell no.

Not only don't I expect him to break the record for a guy named "Gonzalez", I don't expect him to lead the Gonzalezes in HRs this year.
I'm giving Juan good odds to hit more than 5 more HR than Luis over the rest of the season.
By the way, the record for a Gonzalez is 47, by Juan, in 1996.
But, Luis could break the record for most HRs by a guy named Luis, a leader board he dominates--
Luis Gonzalez, 2000, 31
Luis Gonzalez, 1999, 26
Luis Gonzalez, 1998, 23
Luis Gonzalez, 1993, 15
Luis Gonzalez, 1996, 15
Luis Salazar, 1983, 14
Luis Salazar, 1991, 14
Luis Gonzalez, 1991, 13
Luis Gonzalez, 1995, 13
Luis Aguayo, 12
Luis Salazar, 1988, 12
Luis Quinones, 1989, 12
Luis Salazar, 1990, 12

What about LH NL HRs? Mize holds the record - for a long time now (1947) with 51.
Bonds and Larry Walker have come close. Gonzalez have a shot this year? Barry and Walker should as well.

Mize still holds that record.
Here's the top 10--
1,Johnny Mize,1947,51
T2,Ted Kluszewski,1954,49
T2,Larry Walker,1997,49
T2,Barry Bonds,2000,49
5,Willie Stargell,1971,48
T6,Eddie Mathews,1953,47
T6,Ted Kluszewski,1955,47
T8,Eddie Mathews,1959,46
T8,Barry Bonds,1993,46
10,Willie McCovey,1969,45
Considering all of their track records, is anyone of them passes Mize, I give Bonds the best chance.
Based on the performance aspect of their track records, I'd put Walker next on the list, but Walker's chances have to be downgraded due to the odds of him getting hurt again.

Not really a whole lot of LH sluggers in the NL of recent note - at least eye-balling it.
Lee - these lists are great - what if someone who visits these forums wanted to have the ability to work up such fun lists? What would be the best way? ;)
What tool are you using? ;) ;)

That's what I thought - - having a copy of your software myself. It truly is a wonderful application - - to my knowledge, the best of it's kind. I know that I could lose hours, without even noticing the time go by, just playing with all its features. There's a joke in my family - an old one - any time someone was messing with my copy of the Baseball Encyclopedia, I would yell "Be careful with the Book of Knowledge!" You're a Dr. Frankenstein, in a sense, giving animation (life) to the "good book." OK, enough of my plug - - those interested should check out Lee's sight for more info - and, if you want to ask me more about how much I enjoy the program, Private Message me....... :loud:
