The Marlins are running and running, doubling up the second-place team in stolen bases, with 52 in 33 games. It helps they don't have to run on I-Rod, as the Marlins have allowed only 11 steals in that period (3 caught). All this 1970s baseball has the Marlins at 15-18.
At this pace, they would steal about 250 bases this season.

Rob Neyer's column is on the Marlins and the overall state of the stolen base in today's game.
FWIW, the ML for stolen bases by a team is around 350 bags.

The last NL team to steal 200 bases was the 1996 Colorado Rockies, with 201, led by Eric Young's 53. Before that, the 1993 Expos had 228 (Marquis Grissom, 53). The last NL team to crack 250 steals was the 1986 St. Louis Cardinals, with 262 (Vince Coleman, 107).
In the AL, the last time a team reached 200 OR 250 was the 1992 Milwaukee Brewers, with 256, led by Pat Listach with 54.

Amazing the Rocks would steal so many bases, but that's Baylor for you.
Looks like high stolen base numbers aren't equating to success.
If I recall, the '76 A's were disappointing even though they stole bases ever 10 seconds or so.

Pat Hogan is the Hunter S. of Mets fans, with more loathing and less fear.
As for the question, the '76 A's stole 341 bases, and the Royals were second with 218. I would doubt there's another 100+ SB swing.
